Writer's Block: Simply wonderful

It's often said that the simple things in life are the most precious. What small pleasures make you the happiest?

For me one of the simple things that always made me happiest was when my cat would come cuddle up next to me. I would pet him and he would start to purr every time. We had to have him put to sleep this past Thursday (he was old and sick) and I miss him. I'd had him since I was 13 years old (almost 15 years) and it is very sad how much emptier the house now feels without him. The last few days I have kept expecting him to come into my room and jump up on the couch with me, but then I remember that he is gone. :'(

Writer's Block: Winter wonderland

Do you long for snow during the winter holidays? Would you prefer to spend your holidays in the tropics or in a winter wonderland?

I like to watch snow falling (like it did last night) because it is so pretty, but once it reaches the ground I don't like it anymore. I am not a fan of winter at all. I hate the cold. I would much rather spend the holidays (and the rest of the year) in a more tropical climate.
Sammy says "What a bitch!"

(no subject)

Last night was...interesting. I went to the same bar I go to almost every Saturday night and while it was much emptier than usual there were still plenty of people doing karaoke so it was still fun. Then all of a sudden a fight broke out across the room from where my friends and I were. In all the years I've been going there I have never seen a bar fight. Punches were thrown, glasses were broken and a table was knocked over. It was really kind of amazing. It was also kind of funny (some guy was singing Walking in Memphis of all things at the time, lol). The two guys involved were escorted out of separate exits by their friends and it was over. I've gotta say I give credit to the guy who was up singing karaoke at the time. He kept singing even with all that going on behind him. Then, later, there was the guy who gave an awesomely hilarious performance. He sang Total Eclipse of the Heart (badly) and he really threw himself into it, dancing and everything. It was probably one of the best performances I've ever seen at this place. Yeah, so kind of an eventful time last night.

Writer's Block: Hocus pocus

Have you ever purchased a lotion, potion, or pill that promised miraculous weight loss, perfect skin, or fantastic sex even though you knew it was (probably) a hoax?

No, I don't have the money to waste on crap like that. The only time I ever used weight loss pills was several years ago when my doctor prescribed them to me and those actually worked.

Writer's Block: Most memorable concert

What was the most memorable concert you ever attended? What made it so magical?

The most memorable concert I ever went to was Bon Jovi playing in Central Park in
July of 2008. It was awesome getting to see the band perform out under the stars in the middle of Central Park. Everyone in the park was on their feet dancing and singing along. It was an amazing experience.

Writer's Block: Home Remedies

When you get sick or have a cold, what's your favorite remedy to make you feel better?

Ironically, I actually have a cold right now. I took some Tylenol cold medicine (the multi-symptom kind) and that has helped somewhat. I also drank Chamomile tea with a bit of milk, honey and sugar in it for my sore throat. That helped immensely. It soothed my sore throat and made me feel a bit better in general. I'm still not 100%, but I'm getting there.

Writer's Block: Clock Punching

What was your first job?

I volunteered in the Animal Sanctuary at The Science Center of CT (now called the Children's Museum of CT) for the summer when I was 15. My first paying job, though, was at the local JCC's childcare center when I was 16. I started working at their summer program as a fulltime assistant counselor and then became a part time assistant teacher during the school year.

My Life According to Steve Carlson

I'm not generally the meme type, but I saw this on FB and thought it was kinda cool.  I thought it might be interesting to bring it over to LJ (though it is probably already going around on here and I just haven't seen it).  I'm sure many of you have already filled this out or have at least seen it.

ETA: I just realized that this probably takes up a pretty large amount of space on people's friend's pages, so I have added a LJ cut.  Sorry for being annoying and forgetting the cut before.
